AJC picks up story we broke for Atlanta Magazine

Red Roses

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC), metro Atlanta’s daily newspaper, has picked up a story of great interest to the Atlanta gardening community that we broke a few weeks ago in Atlanta Magazine. The story: What happened to the Southeastern Flower Show? The show is the premier gardening event not only in Atlanta but the entire Southeast. It was last held in a major format in 2013. There was a scaled down version of the show last year, and this year it wasn’t held at all. I’ve been trying to get an interview with the group that owns the show, the Southeastern Horticultutral Society, for more than a year to ask about the show’s future. I finally got that interview in early March and broke the story the same week on the magazine’s website. The process has taken me back to my roots: breaking news journalism. Kinda felt good – especially since we beat my former employer of 35 years on the story.
